8 Celebrities that LOVE Intermittent Fasting

When it comes to the next best health trend, celebrities are often the ones we look up to when it comes to recommendations. With glowing skin and lean physiques, it is no secret that so many superstars love intermittent fasting. But how does intermittent fasting help them to achieve such incredible results? Are you ready to take a sneak peak into the world of the rich and famous?

Why do famous people practice intermittent fasting?

It’s a pretty hot topic right now, and for good reason. Intermittent fasting is the practice of alternating between intentional periods of fasting and eating at set times of the day. Grounded in a rich religious and cultural background, the practice of intermittent fasting has become increasingly popular in recent years due to its evidence-based benefits being utilized and appreciated across the globe.

Benefits of intermittent fasting include:

But the benefits don’t stop there! When it comes to living a fast-paced lifestyle like many celebs, they love fasting simply because it works.

‘Friends’ actress, Jennifer Aniston invited the media inside her daily routine, attributing her wellness to celery juice and intermittent fasting. I do intermittent fasting, so there’s no food in the morning. I noticed a big difference in going without solid food for 16 hours,” Aniston tells Radiotimes.com.

The star’s preferred method of fasting is 16:8, where she enjoys healthy and nutritious food for 8 hours of the day and allows her body to rest and rejuvenate for the remaining 16 hours of her day.

With the support of his personal trainer, Chris Hemsworth advocates for intermittent fasting, not only for health and weight loss but also disease prevention.

In 2022, ‘Thor’ actor Chris found that he has a genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s disease, a degenerative neurological disorder that affects thinking, memory and even undertaking simple day to day tasks.

The muscle-bound star explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live that he fasts for a minimum of 15 hours a day, generally choosing the 16:8 plan.

While his trainer, Luke Zocchi, utilizes intermittent fasting primarily for weight loss among his movie star clients, this method of eating has also been shown in studies to aid brain health, potentially reducing the risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson’s.

Next up on the superstar line up is Halle Berry, who has been using intermittent fasting as part of her routine for years.

In a post on her Instagram, the Oscar-winning actress told her audience that she starts eating at 2pm, combining her breakfast and lunch after a fasted workout. Alongside intermittent fasting, she eats low-carb to help manage her type 2 diabetes and her weight.

The richest man in the world and Twitter CEO, Elon Musk has opened up about his use of intermittent fasting for weight loss.

“On advice of a good friend, I’ve been fasting periodically and feeling healthier.” he tweets, “Over 20lbs down from my (unhealthy) peak weight.”

After a media surge of images showing an overweight Musk, he spoke candidly about his love of food on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’.

Intermittent fasting is well known for its aid in rapid yet sustainable weight loss, helping individuals to reduce their calorie intake in a flexible and realistic way.

Musk isn’t the only one tweeting about his fasting-success. In 2019, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey shared his intense wellness routine on a podcast hosted by Ben Greenfield, a highly respected ‘bio-hacker’. Speaking of his nutrition plan, Dorsey devours only one meal a day consisting of mostly quality protein like fish, chicken or steak, and “a lot of greens”. He then finishes the meal with mixed berries and some dark chocolate as a dessert.

The entrepreneur, who has also been known to complete longer two-day-fasts, regularly incorporates profound forms of meditation to boost his well-being.

Known for her passion for all things health, Kourntey Kardashian stated in 2018 that she is a big fan of fasting. The eldest of the Kardashian sisters published an article on her wellness blog Poosh, telling all about the benefits, her routine and her top tips for success.

Finishing her meals at around 7pm, Kourtey starts the next day with a fasted workout before she starts her eating window at around 11am, completing around 14-16 hours of fasting each day.

But wait - Kourt’ also claims to regularly complete a weekly 24 hour fast, drinking only water and unsweetened green tea and bone broth. Longer fasts are well-reported to supercharge your metabolism, reduce oxidative stress and improve cardiovascular health.

Another trendsetter in the world of health and fitness is Hugh Jackman, who is often known for his incredible physique in ‘Wolverine’, shot when Jackman was 44 years old.

While Jackman commends his musculature to his rigorous training plan, he also credits his nutrition plan: ‘The Wolverine Diet’... aka, the 16:8 method!

Prescribed by his trainer David Kingsbury, Jackman followed a dedicated fasting plan. With only an 8 hour eating period, the movie star claims this style of eating was vital for his fat-burning phase of training, aiding his transformation to an abundance of lean muscle and evident six-pack abs.

Jackman isn’t the only superhero that swears by intermittent fasting. ‘Avenger’s Endgame’ protagonist, Scarlett Johansen underwent a kick-ass transformation for her role as the Black Widow.

While the film is a fantasy, her physique is very real thanks to her fierce training schedule and a prescribed intermittent fasting plan. Fasting for up to 15 hours a day, Johansen often incorporated fasted workouts into her routine to refine her figure and fire up a state of fat-burning!
